Glass-Pewter Floral Design Seder Plate,
with matching Charoset bowl, and Matzah
tray. Charoset is a mixture of apples,
pears and nuts, all ground up into a
mush. The marror, bitter herbs, are
dipped into this mix.
Charoset is a reminder of the mortar
that our forefathers in Egypt were
forced to work with for many years. The
mixture is softened with a red liquid
(wine) as a reminder of the first
plague: blood (Jerusalem Talmud,
Pesachim 10:3, end). |
